The relic foreskin of Christ

Right, so let me get this straight. somewhere, someway, somehow, there is a nun or monk who is protecting the foreskin of good old JC? The HTC doesn't really do textual shots very well, so let me reiterate what is says in the fuzzy photo:

"According to Catholic belief, there is somewhere, protected in a secret vault, the relic foreskin of Christ. Since he ascended to heaven, his foreskin is the only mortal part of him that remains."

Seriously. I wonder if they pull it out to whip up miracles: placing the dried up, dusty foreskin on the body of the believer - mouth moving in silent prayer asking for the much anticipated miracle... waiting, watching to see if the blessed foreskin can make their leg grow back/eyes to see/leprosy to be cured/etc.

Pardon me as I giggle.

It's funny

How one catches glimpses of the fact that their life means so little. Still just don't see the point of any of this.

ABCDE

Amazing how much has changed in the last 15 years since I last took first aid. Now it's not ABC but ABCDE. Airway, Breathing, Circulation, Deadly bleed, and Environment.

The "high" point of the first day was learning how to use a defibrillator. Bring on the cardiac arrest patients. Well... not really. The new way of doing CPR is exhausting after a couple of minutes, so you really need another person to trade off with. The new rule is 30:2 - 30 pumps and 2 breaths.

Also learned that the heart can beat on without the brain. I suppose I already knew that (as I blush).

Coping with difficult people

Got in early to put in the extra hour that is required of us due to the company taking 1.5 days to move the office about and change cubicles.

After going into the kitchen and seeing some lovely soul has worked their magic on the coffee pots but failed to make flavored coffee (bad Co-workers bad), I saw there were free books. Not being one to pass up the opportunity to score a free book... I found this gem.

Last week I found this outside laying on the floor

I took it as a sign from heaven - the sticky note beside it says: today is brought to you by the letter R.

The kitchen calleth

After a late start to the day, it has been all about pottering. It's colder than it has been recently, making one not wish to venture too far from home.

The obligatory dog walk was as far as I've gone. Had a massive bag of spinach so decided to do a lazy quiche - or more accurately 2 of them.

Also watched sicko - the Michael Moore DVD. Quite apt really, considering the job I'm doing. I'd recommend it.

The quiche x2 are almost done, and they smell great.

Tucked into my favourite chair

I dragged it in yesterday, and in fact, I had to take the door off its hinges. None of the inconvenience matters now that I am sat upon it with my bed as a footrest - yes, those are velvet trousers.

At present it is messy, but then again when isn't it?

This and all future posts will be written from my HTC Touch wherever I am.

For now I will drag my lazy bones out into the cold and take the pupster for a walk - then to a get together tonight.
